Elaine Johanna Storevik Roetzel, passed away on June 5, 2011, at the age of 90 years. She was born on August 26, 1920, to Amund and Anna Storevik. Along with her four sisters and two brothers, she grew up on her parent's farm near Montrose, South Dakota before moving to Sioux Falls. There she graduated from Washington High School. After that she attended General Beadle Teacher's College in Madison. After finishing her education, she taught school near Madison until marrying Wayne Roetzel. They lived for a few years in Madison and then moved to Worthing, South Dakota where she lived until moving to Primrose Retirement Home. She finished out her life at Prince of Peace Nursing Home surrounded by loving and tender care. During her life Elaine was active in St. Edward's Catholic Church and Altar Society in Worthing. But she will best be remembered for her life as a loving wife to Wayne in their marriage of 49 years, and as a special gift to her three children, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and 4 siblings, her husband, Wayne and her son, Robert. She is survived by her two sisters, Clara Miles (Antioch, CA) and Barbara Reimers (Randall, MN); her son, Douglas and wife Joy Roetzel (Chandler, AZ) and their family, Jeff and Janet Roetzel (Lakeland, FL), Scott and Vonnie Roetzel (Grand Island, NE), Amy and Paul Carlson (Chandler, AZ), and Todd and Wendy Ramse (Brandon, SD); her daughter, Jeanne and her husband Gary Barnes (Gulf Breeze, FL), and their family Kelly Barnes and Casey Dinges (Fairfax, VA), Stephanie Barnes and Alejandro Gonzalez Roman (Alexandria, Va) and Joy Barnes and Roger Thomas (Okinawa, Japan); and her daughter-in-law Lyn Roetzel and her family, Rebecca and Morgan Kappenman (Sioux Falls, SD), Jenny and Todd Hora (Sioux Falls, SD) and Jeff and Amy Iwerks (Sioux Falls, SD). She will be deeply missed by all of them and by her many great and great-great-grandchildren.
