A lifelong resident of the Worthing area and well known in this locality, Audene A. Kuhns suffered a heart attack early Friday morning Mar. 21, 1980 at his farm home southeast of Worthing, and passed away a short time later en route to the hospital. Although undergoing heart surgery about three years ago, Mr. Kuhns appeared to be in good health and was about his duties every day. He attained the age of 55 years, seven months and 23 days. Audene A. Kuhns was born on a farm near Canton, SD. on Jul. 28, 1924, the son of Frank and Mary (Daniels) Kuhns. He grew up in the Canton-Worthing area and graduated from Canton High school in 1942. On Feb. 3,1945, he was united in marriage to Sophie Rippentrop in Canton. Two daughters were born to this union. Audene farmed in the Worthing area and had been a carpenter craftsman for the past 19 years. He was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian church of Lennox; the Worthing Masonic Lodge No. 141 where he had been past master; and the Worthing chapter Order of Eastern Star where he had been past patron. For several years he had also been a member of the Lynn Township board of supervisors. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece, Mary Kuhns Kopecky. Deceased is survived by his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Betty) Mausbach and Mrs. Don (Sandra) Rager, both of Fargo, ND; five grandchildren; Bradley, Brent and Blake Mausbach and Amy and Ryan Rager; two brothers, Dale Kuhns of Sioux City, IA. and Delwin Kuhns of rural Canton.
