Gertrude Marie Henning was born Sept. 11, 1918 at Canistota, SD, the daughter of Rudy and Anna (Callies) Henning. On Feb. 4, 1938 she was united in marriage to Pete Kluin, Jr. at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The couple lived their married life in Worthing. She worked at the Bowling Alley in Lennox, at the Normandy in Sioux Falls and for several years in housekeeping at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls. Pete died Sept. 29, 1991 ending a marriage of over 53 years.
Besides her parents and husband, Gertrude was preceded in death by one infant son and seven siblings: Christ Henning, Walter Henning, Carl Henning, Anna Henning, Edward Henning, Harold Henning and Selma Johnson. Grateful for having shared her life are her two sons and their wives: LeRoy and Betty Kluin of Harrisburg and Larry and Sue Kluin of Sioux Falls; two daughters and their husbands: Geraldine and Robert Morfitt of Sioux City, Iowa and Karen and Ken DeVries of Sunburst, Montana; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
