Mrs. Ethel Owen Dies at Mitchell December 7.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church in Dell Rapids for Mrs. Ethel Owen who passed away on Saturday, December 11th (?) at the Methodist hospital in Mitchell (South Dakota), following an illness of two months. Rev. Glenn W. Hammerlee officiated. Mrs. Webster Drummond and Mrs. Edwin Olson sang. Mrs. P.F. Wagner, organist.

Pallbearers were Webster Drummond, Walter Crisp, Maurice Crisp, John Hermanson, P.F. Wagner and Harry Dickinson. Burial was in the Dell Rapids Cemetery. The Hermanson Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.

Florence Ethel Cole, daughter of T.J. and Eliza Cole, was born near Cresco, Iowa, August 7, 1879, being 78 years and four months at death. She grew to young womanhood in the Cresco vicinity and taught in rural schools for several years.

In 1900 the family moved to Dell Rapids. March 22, 1902, she was united in marriage to William E. Owen. They were the parents of two children, a son and daughter. Following the death of her husband in 1924 Mrs. Owen continued to reside in Dell Rapids, and for a few years was news reporter for The Dell Rapids Tribune and local correspondent for the Sioux Falls Argus-Leader.

Eighteen years ago she moved to Mitchell where she has since made her home. She was house mother for the Methodist hospital for three years.

She became a member of the Methodist church when very young and has made the work of the church one of the most important things in her life

She leaves to mourn her passing a son, Hardy, and the daughter, Mrs. Cora Kalb of Hartford; also a sister, Mrs. Harvey Ryan of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; two brothers, Wm. Arnold of Moscow, Idaho and Fred Cole of Lewiston, Idaho; four grandsons and two great grand childern.

Mrs. Owen was a splendid Christian woman, a devoted mother and a kind neighbor. She had the facility of making and holding friends wherever she went, and in Dell Rapids especially she had a host of friends who are grieved to learn of her passing, and extend sincere sympathy to the family.
