Lorraine was born May 28, 1924 in Canton, SD to Lilbert and Elsia (Foken-McCown) Talkington. She attended school in Canton, graduating in 1942. She married Emerson Bulley in 1943 in San Antonio, TX. The couple made their home in Canton, where they raised their five children. Emmy died in 1971. She married Richard Ver Wey in 1985 and continued living in Canton, while spending winters in Arizona. Dick died in 2000. Lorraine was the City of Canton's Finance Officer for over 20 years. She was a long-time member of Canton United Methodist Church, VFW Auxiliary, Canton Senior Citizen's Center, the Birthday Club, and numerous card clubs. She enjoyed attending her grandsons' football, baseball, and basketball games. Lorraine has been a 27 year fan of the University of Sioux Falls Cougar football team, since having grandsons play for the Cougars. She enjoyed spending time with her family for Saturday Afternoon Football. She was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins and Phoenix Suns. She was a great cook and passed on many of her recipes to her children. Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Evy Buckingham, Canton, SD, Cookie (Gary) King, Canton, SD, Judy (Roger) Lorenzen, Sioux Falls, SD, Jim (Susan) Bulley, Smithfield, VA, and Debi (Bradley) Olson, Canton, SD; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and sister Katherine Erickson, Phoenix, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, and two sisters, Phyllis Bulley and Charlotte Tanner.
