Ingert Thormodsgaard, son of Haakon and Ida (Sullestad) Thormodsgaard, was born in Lincoln County in 1909. His father came from Norway and his mother was born in South Dakota. He married Clara Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Johnson, who farmed in the Moe area for a number of years and moved to North Dakota in 1905. After his mar¬riage in 1934, Ingert worked for farmers in the Hudson area before starting farming in 1938 west of his father's farm. In 1940, they moved to what was known as the Graham farm and purchased it in 1948. They became members of Romsdal Church. Their three children, James, Gene, and Carol attend¬ed Pleasant Hill School and Alcester and Beresford High Schools. Ingert served for a number of years on the Pleasant Hill School board and Romsdal Church council. In 1976 he was recognized as Lincoln County winner in the Greater South Dakota Association Soil and Moisture contest. James married Bonnie Larson and they live on the home place. Gene married Carol Walz and they purchased the John Wallem place. Carol married Lester Voegeli and they pur¬chased his father's farm, the Erwin Voegeli farm. Ingert passed away in 1978. Clara still resides on the home place. (Source: The History of Lincoln County, SD 1985, page 723)
