Claus Runhovde was born on Sept. 23, 1907, in orway, and came in 1926 to the Beresford area. He worked as a farm laborer at the Albert Birkland and Gubrun Gubbrud homes and later for Emil Olbertson. During World War II he was drafted into the armed forces and served in Hawaii and the Philippine Islands. Returning after the war to Lincoln County, he met Alice Runhovde and they were married on Dec. 27, 1945, at Romsdal Church. Alice M. Rommereim was born on the farm of her parents, Charles and Gena Rommereim, on Nov. 29, 1908. She attend¬ed grade school at Pleasant Hill School and graduated from Canton Normal in Canton. She attended the Deaconess School of Nursing in Minneapolis and graduated as a registered nurse. From there she did nursing at Sioux Valley Hospital, and also worked as a nurse in the office of Dr. E. T. Lietzke, Beresford. She also worked as a nurse in various homes from time to time. After their marriage, Claus and Alice rented her father's farm (northwest quarter 19-96-49) until her father's death in 1961, when they purchased the farm and still reside there. They have one adopted daughter: Linda Ann (Gustner) who was born on Aug. 28, 1947. They are members of the Romsdal Lutheran Church and Alice is a member of the Plea¬sant Study Club.
