Tillman Nelson was born Feb. 7,1896, to parents Marius and Thea Nelson on the family farm in Lincoln County Lin¬coln Township, seven miles north and one east of Beresford. In 1918 he served in World War I, being stationed in France. He continued to live on the family farm, until 1924 when he married Selma Sather, daughter of Edw. and Ida Sather and they set up housekeep¬ing on the farm a mile west of the old home place. They built the house and other buildings on the farm where they have lived since their marriage and which is still their home. They both attended Plain View District #4 School and are members of Romsdal Lutheran Church. The Nelsons have two daughters, Janet (Mrs. Robert Elliott) who lives in Sioux Falls and Shirley (Mrs. Ray Lowe) who live in Indianapolis, Ind. They have three grandchildren, Rick and Lorie Lowe, and Tamara Rule.
