Anna was born the oldest of eight children at Lesjaskog, Gudbrandsdalen, Norway. She worked as a weaver in Oslo until immigrating to America in 1909. For three weeks, Anna and her shipmates were quarantined at Ellis Island because of an epidemic of small pox. She moved to live with relatives in Canton, South Dakota, where she spent three years working as a housemaid. On July 2, 1913, Anna married Ludvig Kylling at the Romsdal Lutheran Church. Until her husband's death, they lived together at 505 West Oak in Beresford, SD and had seven children. Anna spent her last thirteen years as a resident at the Bethesda Home for the Aged in Beresford, SD. Anna was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, a son, and one great-grandson. She was survived by five daughters, eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two brothers, and one sister. At the time of her death, Anna was the oldest member of the Romsdal Lutheran Church.
