John (Johan) was the third child born to Even and Johan¬nah Husby, on May 21, 1894, at their farm home one mile south of Norway Center in Norway Township. He received his education at Elmwood School. He was baptized and confirmed at Romsdal Lutheran Church. He joined the U.S. Army at Camp Funston, Kan., in 1918 and served his coun¬try during Wodd War I. He farmed three miles north of Beresford until he entered Bethesda Home in 1966. John¬nie had three different eye surgeries for his blindness at Rochester, Minn. Though unsuccessful, it didn't dampen his wit and humor and his love of reciting. (Source: The History of Lincoln County, SD 1985, page 455)
