Clarinda 1911 - 1997

Harvey W. Bovill was born on Oct. 29, 1907, in Pleasant Township near Beresford. His parents were John and Fan¬nie Bovill; his father was born in Ireland and his mother in Pleasant Township. Harvey attended grade school at Plea¬sant Valley #39 and also went to school at Canton Normal in Canton. After his father's death in 1917, he helped his mother with the farm work until he was married on March 20, 1935, to Clarinda Rommereim. He had purchased a farm in Pleasant Township (southeast quarter of Section 21) in 1934 and they have made their home there. Clarinda G. Rommereim was born on the farm of her parents, Charles and Gena Rommereim, on Feb. 13, 1911. She attended school at Pleasant Hill #32 and graduated at Canton Normal in 1928. After school, besides helping with the housekeeping at her father's home, she gave piano lessons and played piano in the Romsdal Church. Harvey and Clarinda had two daughters, Carolyn Gail (born March 29, 1936) and Cheryl Lynn (born Nov. 12, 1945), and one son, John William (born Jan. 18, 1943). John died at birth and is buried at Romsdal Cemetery. During the early 30's Harvey bought a threshing machine and ran a threshing run during July and August of every year. He continued threshing until the combine came into the picture in the early 1960's. Harvey was also one of the board members of the Farmers Elevator Company in Beresford and served on the board of directors of the Tri¬County Farmers Union which later was turned into Truck Towne. Harvey also served as a school board member of Silver Lake #59 for many years. Harvey and Clarinda served in various offices of the Romsdal Church, of which they have been lifetime members. Clarinda has also been a member of the Pleasant Study Club since 1935. Harvey retired from farming in 1971.
