Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Lutheran church for Simon Anderson who died on Thursday, February 21st. The services were in charge of the pastor, Rev. A.J. Bringle. Simon Christian Andersen was born in Biersted, Denmark, on September 2nd, 1850. In the year of 1903 the family came to the United States and settled near Elk Horn Iowa. They lived there until 1914 when they came to Dell Rapids and settled six miles west of Dell Rapids on a farm. Mr. Andersen was preceded in death by his wife 19 years ago. He is survived by five children, three sons, Anton of Dell Rapids with whom he made his home; Jens of Dell Rapids; Nels of St. Charles, Iowa; two daughters, Mrs. P.L. Nielsen of Elk Horn, Iowa; Mrs. N.P. Christensen of Atlantic, Iowa, together with 19 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and a host of friends.
