Caroline Ann Mechels was born Nov. 1, 1928 on a farm near Tea, South Dakota, the daughter of Gerhard J. and Sophie M. (Fischer) Mechels.
On July 14, 1962 she married Earle Shoeman at Tea, South Dakota. The couple lived in Omaha, Nebraska, Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Caroline continued her education and became self-employed in the bookkeeping and tax preparation service for small businesses. Besides her parents and husband, Caroline was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Mechels in 1949. Grateful for having shared her life are siblings: brother, Calvin Mechels of Lennox, fours sisters: Luella DeJong and her husband Bennett of Harrisburg, Alma Gors and her husband Richard of Tea, Joanne Bennis and her husband Chuck of Brandon, Jeanette Eichacker and her husband John of Salem as well as many nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
