Eldon Fossum, age 90, died Wednesday, June 09, 2010 at the Canton Good Samaritan Society. Eldon O. Fossum was born on January 19, 1920 in Highland Township, Canton, SD, the son of Oscar and Gena (Lee) Fossum. He attended country school and graduated from Augustana Academy. He was a lifelong farmer and in the Army during World War II. Eldon was united in marriage to Henrietta Strand on March 12, 1950 at the Canton Lutheran Church, Canton, SD. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed on a farm south of Canton. Eldon is a baptized and confirmed member of Lands Church having served on the Lands Church council and Highland Township board. Grateful having shared his life are: one daughter, Dr. Faye L. Fossum, Canton; brother and sister-in¬-law, Dick and Arlene Fossum, Canton; sister-in-law, Evelyn Fossum, Canton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Art and Betty Larson, Fairview; sister-in-law, Alice Strand, Rapid City; two nephews, and six nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife Henrietta, parents, brother, Orvin, and brother-in-law, Neal Strand. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 14, 2010 at Lands Lutheran Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
