She was a highly esteemed pioneer of the community. Julianna (Julia) was born on a farm near Dell Rapids to Ole and Ingeborg Thompson. She was baptized at Stordahl Lutheran Church and confirmed by Rev. C. C. Moe on January 6, 1889.
On March 10, 1893 she married Lars Holmen and he died on September 28 of the same year. Leonard Holmen was born of this union. She married Carl Haagenson on July 4, 1899.
She belonged to the Lutheran church and was a Ladies Aid member for 62 years. She was ill for approximately 6 weeks prior to passing away in her sleep on Christmas day. She is buried at Stordahl Cemetery.
