Andrew Christensen Splendid Citizen of Long Standing
Andrew Christensen who has operated a woodworking shop in Dell Rapids for many years, passed away at his home on October 9, 1957 following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Christensen was born December 8, 1885 in Osterbole, Denmark. After working for several years and serving in the Danish Army, he came to this country in 1914. He established his place of business in Dell Rapids under the name of Christensen's Planing Mill. He was active in the I.O.O.F. for many years.
In 1934 he made his second trip to Denmark and met Hansine Anderson on the trip. They were married the following year. Since that time he has devoted all his time to the family and lived in Dell Rapids.
He is survived by his wife, Hansine, three sons, Morgan, James and Charles, two grandchildren and a sister and brother in Denmark.
Mr. Christensen was noted for his fine workmanship, his integrity as a business man and citizen. He was a devoted husband and father, and was held in highest esteem by an ever increasing number of neighbors and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Dell Rapids Lutheran Church Saturday, October 12, at 2 p.m., conducted by the pastor, Rev. Edwin Bersagel. Burial was in the Dell Rapids Cemetery.
Pall bearers were Lars Dalsgaard, John Larson, E.P. Van Buren, Edwin Florell, E.W. Thornber, and E.J. Borah. Hermanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
