Margery J Gundvaldson
(March 10, 1925 - March 12, 2012)
Margery Jane Gundvaldson, 87, of Brookings, SD formerly of Egan, SD died Monday, March 12, 2012 at Brookview Manor in Brookings. She was born March 10, 1925 at Luverne, MN to Otto and Martha (Kohlocheen) Arp. She received her education in rural Hardwick schools. Margery married Theodore Gundvaldson on February 16, 1947 at Jasper, MN. They farmed near Egan for 35 years. She has lived at Brookview Manor in Brookings, SD since February 1993. Her husband preceded her in death on April 7, 1995. Margery was a member of First Lutheran Church in Brookings since 1993, a former member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Flandreau, and a lifelong member of Egan Legion Auxiliary.
Margery is survived by 13 children: Lloyd, Egan, SD, Gayle Cedergren, Eagan, MN, Donna Halseth, Brookings, Barb (Tom) Morrison, Edina, MN, Mark (Julie), Aurora, SD, Neil (Linda), Brookings, Marlene (Mark) Miller, Castle Rock, CO, Glenda Coffey, Newport News, VA, Raymond, Cottage Grove, MN, Eldon (Deb), Peaster, TX, Lou Ann (Earl) Lawrence, Lincoln, NE, Denise (Joe) Phalen, Morgan, UT, Jeff (Troy), Minneapolis; 26 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter Marie, one son LeRoy, her parents, four sisters and two brothers.
Services will be 1:00 PM, Friday, March 16, 2012 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Flandreau with burial in Hillside Cemetery, Egan. Visitation begins at 4:00 pm Thursday with a 7:00 PM prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
