Sharon Marie Fritz
December 17, 1939 - November 4, 2023
On Saturday, November 4, 2023, Sharon Marie Fritz, age 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her family at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 13, 2023, at East Side Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD. Her family will be present to greet friends for visitation on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, Sharon’s family requests that memorials be directed to the East Side Lutheran Church Building Fund.
Sharon was born on December 17, 1939, in St. Paul, Minnesota to Maurice “Bud” and Carrie (Heggestad) Lee. She was raised and received her education in Brandon, SD. Following high school, Sharon continued her education in Mankato, MN.
Sharon was united in marriage with Leland “Lee” Fritz on May 20, 1960, at East Side Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls and Brandon while celebrating over 50-years of marriage until Lee’s passing in 2011.
Sharon spent over sixteen years working as a supervisor in the Austad’s Warehouse in Sioux Falls and for a short time assisting with the Brandon Valley lunch program.
Sharon enjoyed tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, crocheting Afghans, making Lefse, and baking for her friends and family. Above all, Sharon was blessed with being able to raise her two sons, supporting them in all of their sporting events, and seeing her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren baptized and the knowledge that God is looking after them.
Sharon will be remembered and deeply missed by her son, Bob Fritz and his wife, Jenny, Hartford, SD; daughter-in-law, Susan Fritz, Brandon, SD; four grandchildren, Austin Fritz, Hartford, SD, Ashley Fritz, Letcher, SD, MecKenzie (AJ) Bunker, Renner, SD and Shelby (James) Cronk, Armstrong, IA; five great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Nora, Griffin, Kinslee and Rhett; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Leland; an infant daughter, Susan; a son, Jeff; her parents, Maurice and Carrie Lee; two brothers, Robert (Mary) Lee and James (Kathy) Lee; and her canine companion, Tuffy.
