Robert J. "Bob" Lynch
July 13, 1951 - July 8, 2018
Robert James (Bob) Lynch passed into the loving arms of Jesus on July 8th, 2018 at Ava’s House Hospice in Sioux Falls, SD. He was 66.
Bob was born July 13th, 1951 to Howard and Nancy (Faulkner) Lynch.
He attended the Sioux Falls school system and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1970. He graduated from Dakota State University in 1974.
In 1975 he married the love of his life Arnita Sorensen.
Bob and his father owned and operated South Sioux Oil in Sioux Falls on the corner of 41st and Minnesota Ave. There he learned mechanics and business. In 1978, he began a 30-year career with US West Telephone Company, retiring in 2008.
Bob was happiest when building, whether it was in his woodshop or in the living room building character with the youngsters in his life. Bob was a master storyteller. His enthusiasm for history, Greek and Roman myths, and his Irish ancestry was captivating.
Bob is survived by his wife, Arnita, Sioux Falls, SD; sons, Matthew (Teisha), Sioux Falls, SD; Joseph, Sioux Falls, SD; Thomas (Anna), Iowa City, IA; 6 grandchildren, Sydney; Ryen; Aidan; Teagan; Cael; Emersyn; Matt’s dog, Koa, whom he called Ranger to tease his grandchildren—and “my dog” to tease his sons; sisters, Nancy Dilks, Chaska, MN; Sally Sherburne, Sioux Falls, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Mass will be said 10:30 am Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Christ The King Catholic Church. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00-7:00 pm Friday, July 20th, followed by a Wake service at 7:00 pm at Miller Funeral Home, Main Avenue location.
