Sioux Falls, SD ~ Dianne Barbara Shjegstad, age 76, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, April 23, 2023, her devoted husband of 56 years by her side. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Abiding Savior Free Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD. Her family will be present to greet friends for visitation on Wednesday at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Please direct memorial donations to Feeding South Dakota or Abiding Savior Free Lutheran Church.

Dianne was born on September 7, 1946 the last of six children born to William and Virginia (Cronk) Entringer in Dell Rapids, SD. She was raised on a farm near Dell Rapids and graduated from Dell Rapids High School in 1964. Following high school, Dianne attended and graduated from the South Dakota Hairstyling Academy.

In the summer of 1965 at an amateur baseball game in Renner, SD Dianne caught the attention of a young ballplayer and classmate, Wayne Shjegstad. The couple were united in marriage on January 2, 1967 in Dell Rapids. Dianne and Wayne were blessed with three daughters, Beth, Sara and Brinn and made their home in Dell Rapids. Dianne worked as a hairstylist for over several years before focusing her attention on raising her girls. Dianne and Wayne moved to Sioux Falls in 2009 to be closer to family.

Being raised on the farm influenced Dianne’s love and appreciation for God's creation. Growing up she loved caring for and riding horses. Later on she enjoyed fishing and camping on the Missouri River with family and friends, planting and tending flowers every summer, finding different ways to attract a variety of birds to her yard, and "hunting" for rocks, fossils and other treasures. Dianne made her family a priority. She attended all of her girls' sporting and school activities, made every birthday special and created meaningful holiday traditions. Dianne also enjoyed reading, decorating and redecorating her home and searching for antiques. She loved being a grandma to her six grandchildren. Dianne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Wayne Shjegstad, Sioux Falls, SD; three daughters, Beth (Chad) Bornhoft, Sioux Falls, SD, Sara (Brad) Peterson, Sioux Falls, SD and Brinn (Derek) Watson, Maple Grove, MN; six grandchildren, Miranda Bornhoft, Meghan Bornhoft, Noah Peterson, Matthew Peterson, Lily Peterson and Luke Watson; one brother, Marvin (Loretta) Entringer, Mission, TX; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Dianne was preceded in death by her parents, William and Virginia Entringer; two brothers, Dale "Babe" Entringer and Gerald “Bud” Entringer; and two sisters, Judy Barker and Shirley Larson.

The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff at Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center and Avera Prince of Peace Rehab.
