Steve J. Remund
April 26, 1952 - May 5, 2022

Steven “Steve” James Remund, age 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, May 5th, 2022 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Steve battled multiple myeloma for two and a half years with unmatched optimism, courage, and strength.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, May 10th, 2022 at Miller Funeral Home – Westside Chapel (6200 W 41st St, Sioux Falls, SD) with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 pm. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, May 11th, 2022 at Resurrection Lutheran Church (5500 W 26th St, Sioux Falls, SD).

Steve was born on April 26th, 1952 to James and Evelyn (Tietjen) Remund in Milbank, South Dakota. He grew up farming and graduated from Corona High School in 1970.

In his early days, Steve worked on the Milwaukee Railroad and held various sales positions. He spent the last 19 years working at Sioux Falls Ford, a job he truly cherished because of all the wonderful people he was able to meet and help. He retired in January of 2022, but would still be selling today if he could.

Steve was married to Sharon Keith on September 15th, 1973 in Ortonville, Minnesota. Steve and Sharon lived in Milbank and then Huron, South Dakota until 1983 when they moved to Sioux Falls. They enjoyed traveling and riding motorcycle together. Shortly after moving to Sioux Falls they started a family.

Steve had a calming presence and was also known for his quick wit and impeccable articulation. He was a kind man with strong faith in God and was an active member at Resurrection Lutheran Church. Steve was an honorary dad and grandpa to many and was always readily available to listen and offer up encouragement.

When Steve wasn’t busy building relationships and helping customers find vehicles, he enjoyed spending his time biking, camping, hunting, reading, and listening to music. The Rolling Stones, Metallica, and Tom Petty were a few favorites. He appreciated a good craft beer and enjoyed sampling new beers with his sons-in-law Brady and Brad. Steve also loyally cheered on the Vikings year after year. He never lacked in the department of jokes, especially when it came to the subject of the Vikings and some of their more memorable losses.

Steve’s greatest earthly treasure and love was his family. He adored Sharon, his wife of nearly 49 years, and his two daughters, Kristen and Kelsey. He was the proudest Papa to his grandchildren Theo James (middle name after Steve) and Addy Rae. His grand-dogs, Copper and Arthur, were also very special to him.

Grateful to have shared Steve’s life with him are his wife, Sharon Remund; his daughters, Kristen (Brady) Jacobsen and Kelsey (Brad) Pick; his grandchildren, Theo Jacobsen and Addyson Pick; his sister, Janet Taylor; and his nephew, Grant (Gretchen) Gale.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, James and Evelyn Remund.
