Palmyra Spencer, 89 of Sioux Falls, died Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Sanford Centennial Hospice in Sioux Falls.

Palmyra Lavina Brasel daughter of Charles Leslie Brasel and Clara Mae (Munsey) Brasel, was born July 10, 1927 in Dow City, Iowa. She moved with her family to Sioux Falls, SD in 1936. She graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls in 1945. Throughout her life Palmyra had lived in Washington, D.C., Virginia, Denver, CO, Mineral Wells, TX, and Lawton, OK. She returned to Sioux Falls in 1960 where she worked for International Harvester Company until 1972. She worked with the federal government for a total of 23 years, 15 of which were with the Federal Housing Administration as a loan specialist. She retired in 1987.

Palmyra was a member of the national Association of Retired Federal Employees and Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Grateful for having shared her life are her granddaughter, Naomi Spencer of Sioux Falls, SD; her sister, Joanne Fleck of Denver, CO; and three great grandchildren, Bi Evan Spencer, Caitlinh Spencer-Khampaa, and Adalyn Spencer-Khampaa, all of Sioux Falls, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her son, Denzel Wayne Spencer, II.
