James E. Jucht, 79, of Sioux Falls, SD went to meet his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, January 12, 2021. His funeral service will be 11:00 AM Monday, January 18 at First Baptist Church, Sioux Falls, and will be livestreamed. Visitation begins at 3:00 PM Sunday, January 17 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory, Sioux Falls, where the family will greet friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Social distancing and masks are required at both the visitation and the funeral service.
James Edwin Jucht, son of Edwin and Amanda (Meyer) Jucht, was born November 27, 1941. He graduated from Bridgewater High School in 1960.
Jim met the love of his life, Lois Prouty, in 1964. Jim and Lois were united in marriage on February 11, 1966 in Lake Norden, SD. For the last 55 years, they have enjoyed a holy bond built on the love of the Lord Jesus Christ. They were blessed with two children, Sherri and Scott. Jim devoted 37 years to the airlines (Ozark, TWA and American). After retiring, he kept busy for 10+ years working part-time for Adesa in Tea, SD.
Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, friends, but, most of all, time with family. He developed an extended family in Lake Hendricks, MN where the cabin he built by hand was located. Never without a project, Jim was selfless with his time and talents. He jumped at every opportunity to help and be of service to others. He was a humble member of First Baptist Church in Sioux Falls, serving as a deacon and usher since 1970.
Jim, better known to his family as Hubby, Hon, Papa, Dad, Coach, and Great-grandpa, was beloved and will be missed greatly.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Lois; two children, Sherri VanDerWolde and her husband, Tony, Sioux Falls, SD, Scott Jucht, Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren, Alyssa Linn and her husband, Caleb, Isaac VanDerWolde, Kaylie Jucht and Ashley Jucht, all of Sioux Falls, SD; one great-grandson, Benjamin Linn; four siblings, John Jucht and his wife, Carol, Sioux Falls, SD, Shirley Cox, Freeman, SD, Mark Jucht and his wife, Renée, Spokane, WA, Todd Jucht and his wife, Christie, Sammamish, WA; and many other relatives and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Amanda Jucht.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Jim to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
