Betty Hasche
July 26, 1925 - February 8, 2014
Sioux Falls- Betty Hasche, 88, died Saturday, February 8, 2014, at Southridge Healthcare Center. A memorial service will begin at 3:00 PM on Thursday, February 13, 2014, at Christ Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Burial will be held prior to the service at 2:00 PM at Hills of Rest Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 12 at George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Betty Jane Hoklin, daughter of John and Margaret (Olson) Hoklin, was born July 26, 1925 in Irene, SD. Betty grew up in Elk Point, SD where she graduated from high school in 1943. Following high school she worked for the Bank of Union County in Elk Point before marrying Eldon Hasche on August 5, 1950. Over the course of their marriage, Betty and Eldon moved several times. They lived in Wisconsin where she worked for an insurance and real estate company and Cohen Brothers. Then they moved to Baltimore, MD where Eldon was stationed during the Korean War. While in Baltimore, Betty spent her days taking care of the family home. The couple had brief moves to Lincoln, NE followed by Sac City, IA before landing in Gregory, SD for about 10 years. Betty and Eldon then moved to Sioux Falls where she worked for Sullivan Inc. and Eileen's Fashions. They later moved to Madison, SD where she worked as a clerk at Wiedenman Insurance. Finally, in 1988 Betty and Eldon came back to Sioux Falls so they could be close to their family. In her free time she enjoyed golfing with friends, reading, singing and playing cards. Above all, Betty loved to spend time with her family. She especially cherished her grandchildren and loved to watch them grow. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all those who shared her life. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Eldon Hasche, Sioux Falls; children, Bruce (Wendy) Hasche, Sioux Falls, Beth (Randy) St. Clair, Surprise, AZ, and Elaine Hasche, Sioux Falls; grandchildren, Bret, Ben and Megan Hasche; and sister, Darlene (Walter) Deines, Anderson, CA. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret (Olson) Hoklin, and several brothers and sisters.
