Neal Myren
June 27, 1954 - December 5, 2021
Neal Myren, 67, of Salem passed away suddenly at his home near Salem on Sunday December 5, 2021. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am on Friday, December 10, 2021 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Visitation will begin at 6 pm on Thursday with a 7 pm prayer service at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem.
Neal Myren was born in Mitchell, SD on June 27, 1954 to Leonard and Betty (Bauerle) Myren. He grew up in the Canova area and graduated from Canova High School. He met the love of his life, Kathy Mayrose at the bakery and were married on October 10, 1981. They made their home near Salem with their 4 children: Kristi, Kyle, Eliott and Devin.
Neal proudly served in the Army National Guard for nearly 22 years. He then commuted to Sioux Falls for over 20 years to work, ending his career at Midco as a Collections Specialist, where he was celebrating 10 years this month. He had many interests over the years including: yearly hunting trips with the guys, hunting with his kids, teaching his grandkids how to shoot, his John Deere lawn mowers, watching a good “Western” and reading a good book. Neal enjoyed cooking when he had the chance and just sitting outside and enjoying everything that nature brought to him. Neal’s greatest joy the last eleven years of his life was being a grandparent with his loving wife of over 40 years, spending lots of time watching grandkids at church, school, and sporting activities along with many phone conversations.
Neal is survived by: his wife, Kathy of Salem; his children, Kristi Jones (John Cap) of Sioux Falls, Kyle (Shirley) Myren of Benton City, WA, Eliott Myren of Minneapolis, MN and Devin Myren of Sioux Falls; and his grandchildren, Nala, Isaac and Leela Jones and Kiley and Kinley Myren; 2 brothers Rex & Dennis Myren. He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard & Betty, brother Keith Myren, and his In-law’s: Roman & Mathilda Mayrose.
