Ann Louise Kuehn
June 19, 1933 - February 13, 2022
Ann Louise Kuehn, 88, passed away peacefully and gracefully at home on Sunday, February 13, 2022, surrounded by warmth and love and family.
Ann Louise Shaw was born June 19, 1933 to Sheldon “Bill” Shaw and Louise (Carr) Shaw. She was raised in Parkston and Mitchell and graduated from Mitchell High School. She attended the University of South Dakota and graduated with a degree in Education. She taught English in Denver for a short time before returning to Sioux Falls.
Ann Louise married Curtis W Kuehn March 3, 1956. Together they raised their 3 daughters in Sioux Falls. During her entire married life, she was a dedicated and valued community volunteer, instilling in her family the joy found in simple acts of kindness and the happiness found in helping put a smile on someone’s face that wasn’t there before.
She was a consummate hostess, a fabulous cook, and made you her friend after only meeting you once. Anyone who was lucky enough to receive one of Ann Louise’s hugs knows they were heartfelt, genuine and full of love. Words cannot convey how much she will be missed.
She is survived by her 3 daughters, Susan (Mark) Greeno, Andrea Kuehn and Kristina Kuehn; along with 3 grandchildren, Anna (Mark) Beker, Andrew (Veronica) DeVaney and Catherine (Derek) Tolbert; and 3 great grandchildren, Ilya and Katya Beker and Louise DeVaney.
A visitation is planned for Saturday, March 5 at Miller Funeral Home Downtown from 12:00-3:00 with family present from 2:00-3:00. The burial will be private. A future celebration of the beauty of her life is being planned for June 19th, 2022. More information will be available closer to the date.
