Sioux Falls - Curtis Eugene Anderson age 92, formerly of Sioux Falls passed away peacefully on May 10, 2018 at the Centerville Care and Rehab Center in Centerville, SD. Funeral services will begin at 11 AM on Tuesday May 15, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sioux Falls with burial to follow at St. Michaels Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday at the Heritage Funeral home with family present from 5 to 7 PM and a scripture service to follow.

Curtis Anderson was born on October 1, 1925 in Dell Rapids, South Dakota to Ejnar and Alvina(Hanefeld) Anderson. The family eventually moved to Sioux Falls where Curtis received his education, graduating from Washington High School in 1944. Shortly after graduation Curtis enlisted in the U.S. Navy. As an Electricians Mate, he served in the Seabees while being stationed in Guam, Adak Alaska and eventually at the U.S. Naval Reserve in Sioux Falls.

Curtis was united in marriage to Adeline Smith in Sioux Falls on August 26, 1950. Early in his career, he worked as a meat cutter for the Red Owl Stores. In 1952, he began his 31-year career as an instrument technician for Northern States Power at the Lawrence Power Plant east of Sioux Falls. After its closure, he was transferred to Granite Falls, MN where he stayed until his retirement.

Curtis was interested in woodworking, decoy carving, hunting, fishing and gardening. He was especially proud of his 23-year involvement with the Boy Scouts. In that time, he was very active as a committee member and Scout Master for Troop 52. He led the troop on week long canoe trips, 50-mile hikes and winter camping trips. In all that time he had to out think a group of boys who never asked themselves "what could go wrong".

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 67 years, Adeline of Centerville; two sons: Dan of Sioux Falls and Dave(Linda) of Sioux Falls; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents and one brother; Darrel and his wife Anna.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Boys Scouts of America or Angel Lee Cronen Fund.
