Amy Marie Yarnall

Amy Marie Yarnall passed away on June 18, 2011 after a four-year battle with breast cancer. She was 53 years young. Amy was born on September 18, 1957 to Wallace and Maxine Hohn in Sioux Falls. She graduated from Lincoln High School May 1975. She was a professional Court Reporter having graduated from the Stenotype Institute of South Dakota in 1980. On October 11, 1985 she was united in marriage to Rick A Yarnall. She retired in1986 and devoted the remainder of her life raising their two children.
Survivors include her husband Rick, daughter Lindsey and son Jeff, all of Las Vegas, NV; her mother Maxine Hohn, Sioux Falls; sister’s Jackie (Brian) Farland, Wise, Virginia and Terri (Mike) Cooper, Sioux Falls and her niece and nephews and their children; mother-in-law Helen Yarnall, Sun Lakes, AZ and sister-in-law Linda Witkop, USVI. Her father “Wally”, sister Emily and nephew Chris Farland, preceded her in death.
Amy inspired many with her valiant and courageous battle against cancer. She consoled and mentored cancer patients that were inflicted with this insidious disease. The Yarnall family wishes to thank Gary Schott of Las Vegas for his personal inspiration and wisdom and Mary Ann K. Allison, M.D., her Oncologist, and her staff at the Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada in Las Vegas and her Hospice nurses.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church on Monday June 27, 2011. There will be a private burial ceremony at St Michaels Cemetery. Amy was Baptized and married in St Mary’s Church. Her last wish was that her funeral be conducted at St. Mary’s to “complete the full circle of her life”.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The Caring Place, 4425 S. Jones Blvd. Suite 1, Las Vegas, NV, 89103 a non-profit and full support facility for the mind, body and soul and free to those touched by cancer (Dr. Allison’s personal gift to her cancer patients) and/or to the Southern Nevada Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 4850 W. Flamingo Rd. Suite 25, Las Vegas, NV 89103.
