Anton Larschied Succumbs
To Attack While Hunting
Had Reached the Age of Eighty Years; A Dell Rapids Resident for Past Four Years
Funeral services were held on Wednesday of last week for Anton Larschied who died of a heart attack while hunting the previous afternoon.
Mr. Larschied had accompanied his son, Harry, and others, on a hunting trip and was in the vicinity of Canova. He did not complain of feeling ill, but decided he would remain at a straw pile while the others did some scouting. When they returned they found he had passed away. He was 80 years of age.
The services were conducted at St. Mar’s Catholic Church in Dell Raids, by Father George Esterguard, at 9:30. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Mr. Larschied was born at Green Bay, Wis., August 9, 1870. He was united in marriage to Pauline Verhyden in 1896 and homesteaded at Mott, N.D. In 1942 they moved to Sioux Falls and four years later to Dell Rapids where he resided until his death.
He is survived by his widow, three sons, Ear of Sioux Falls, Lloyd of Brooking and Harry of Dell Rapids; one daughter Mrs. George Awen of Mott, M.D. There are 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
