Ben Pearson died at a local hospital early today after an illness of one month, during one week of which he was confined in the hospital. He was 70 years old and had resided in Sioux Falls prior to 1900 and later in the vicinity of Hartford and Crooks.
Mr. Pearson was born in Sweden September 24, 1860, and came to this country at the age of 20. He first lived at Shullsburg, Wis., and after residing there several years was married and came to Sioux Falls. In 1900 he moved to a farm near Hartford and pursued farming until his retirement in 1918. He took up his residence in Crooks and a little over a year ago moved to Sioux Falls.
He was a member of the Swedish Lutheran Church, holding membership in the Benton Lutheran Church near Crooks. The surviving relatives are the widow, one daughter, Mrs. Nels Byg, Hartford; two sons, Alfred W. of Hartford and Dewy of Portland, Oregon; one brother, John Pearson of Sioux Falls and 11 grandchildren. Arrangements for the funeral have not been completed. The body is at the Miller Funeral Home.
