Death Summons Sophie Sorkilmo
Miss Sophie Sorkilmo passed way Wednesday morning, January 31, following a brief illness of some two weeks duration. She submitted to an operation earlier this month, but her condition was such that no hopes of recovery were held from the beginning.
The deceased was born in Dell Rapids, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T.P. Sorkilmo. She attended and graduated from the local high school, also graduating from Huron College and Aberdeen Northern Normal. She taught in the grades of the Dell Rapids School for several years, late teaching in Sioux Falls School. A few years ago she gave up teaching and has since made her home here with her mother.
Besides her mother she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ray Bathen of San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. Leon Farrell of Canton. A niece, Mrs. Betty Bathen Beals of San Francisco also survives.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, February 2nd, at 2:30 o'clock at the Lutheran Church. A short service will be held at the home at 1:30, especially for her mother and relatives, as because of illness her mother will be unable to attend the service at the church. Rev. Ole M. Odland will conduct the services.
Miss Sorkilmo has been a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church and has been active in civic organizations of the community. She has a hot of friends, who are grieved to hear of her untimely passing and extend sympathy to the bereaved mother and other relatives.
