Gertrude Silkensen
Evergreen, Colo. – Gertrude Silkensen, 89, formerly of Dell Rapids, died Monday, Feb. 21, 1994, in Denver, Colo.
Gertrude Connors was born May 2, 1904, in Jefferson.
She married Hollis Silkensen in April of 1924 in Madison. He died in 1983. They owned and operated the Conoco service station and bulk plant in Dell Rapid for many years. They also operated the movie theater in Artesian. They retired in 1963. They moved to Oceanside, Calif., in 1977. She later moved to Denver.
She was a member of the Eastern Star, PEO, and the Daughters of the Nile.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandra A. Patterson of Evergreen; two grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Catherine Wagner of New Prague, Minn.
Graveside services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Dell Rapids Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at noon Friday in the Kahler Funeral Home in Dell Rapids, with the family being present from 6 to 8 p.m.
