Fred Pfister Died Wednesday Night
Popular Business Man Passed Away At Hospital a Few Hours After He Was Operated On
The community mourns the loss of Fred Pfister, one of our best liked business men. He had been in poor health for several years, but kept going as long as possible. He was troubled with ulcer of the stomach, and Tuesday be became very sick. His son, Dr. Faris Pfister of Webster was called and he came Wednesday forenoon. About noon Mr. Pfister was taken to the hospital and operated upon. The gastric ulcer which had troubled him so long had become perforated and it was seen at once there was little hope of his recovery. The operation took over two hours. He lived only a few hours after the operation, dying at 10:00 o'clock p.m.
Mr. Pfister had been in business in Dell Rapids for about 32 years. For the past 30 years he has been in the Collins building, where his grocery and bakery is at present.
He leaves a wife, one son, Dr. Faris Phister of Webster, and two daughters, Mrs. Walter Weiss of Garner, Iowa and Genevieve at home.
The funeral will be held at the Methodist Episcopal church at 2:00 o'clock Saturday, in charge of the pastor, Rev. Harold W. Wagar.
The business places will be closed from 1:00 until 2:00.
