Frederick G. Kasdorf, 87, of Ellensburg died October 11, 2008 at home. Fred was born May 29, 1921 in the Egan, SD area to Arthur and Emma Kasdorf; where he was raised and lived until 1942 when the family moved to Estelline, SD to a farm in Hidewood County. In 1955 he and his brother Ralph ventured to Washington State. They lived and worked at the Kent School until moving to the Kittitas Valley that he loved so much. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and especially Ellensburg Blues. He worked at various ranches in the Reecer Creek area until retirement in 1992, when he moved into Ellensburg and resided until he became ill. Then he moved in with his sister Bertha (Higgins) where she cared for him until his death. Fred was a volunteer fireman with the Reecer Creek Fire Department for 20 years and an honorary member of the Early Iron Club of Ellensburg, where he enjoyed being around the old machinery and selling tickets.
He is survived by three brothers, Ralph, Floyd and John; and ten sisters, Frances, Marian, Maxine, Vera, Ellie, Mary Bonnie, Joyce, Ruthann and Bertha, as well as many nieces, nephews and great and great-great nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Emma (Platts) Kasdorf; two brothers, Kenneth and Art Jr.; and some nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 10:30 AM on Saturday at Hillside Cemetery in Egan, SD.
