John L Tapken, 49, of Sioux Falls, SD, died Thursday, November 20, 2008 at his home.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2008, at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic, SD. Burial will be in the Pioneer Cemetery, rural Baltic.

John was born July 15, 1959, in Sioux Falls to parents Gayland and Lois Yvonne (Berg) Tapken. He moved with his family to Tulsa, OK. where he graduated from High School.

He worked in the maintenance department at Hillcrest Hospital for 15 years. In 2005, he returned to Sioux Falls.

Survivors include: his daughter, Julie Carpenter, Collinsville, OK.; 2 grandsons, Brennan and Caden Carpenter; his mother, Lois Yvonne Tapken, Sioux Falls; 3 aunts and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by: his father, Gayland in 1976; an infant brother, Joseph; and his grandparents, Joseph and Julie Berg and Margaret and Fred Tapken.
