Joseph Laney
FLANDREAU, S.D.--Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Ss. Simon & Jude Catholic Church in Flandreau for Joseph Laney, 79, formerly of Flandreau, who died Thursday in a Lincoln, Neb., hospital.
Mr. Laney was born Jan. 26, 1897, at Inman, Neb. He served in World War I, and then lived at O'Neil, Neb., before moving in 1930 to farms near Aurora, Jasper, Minn., and Flandreau. In 1853 he returned to O'Neil. In 1955 he moved to Lincoln where he had since resided.
He married the former Stella Vanderberg Nov. 3, 1920, at Sioux City.
Survivors include the widow; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Ticknor, Denver; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau
