Born Moses Jones Stanley in Vermont, son of Nathaniel and Anna (Blodgett) Stanley. (Note - DAR has his birthdate as 10 Feb 1798, which would make his age one year off on the gravestone.)
Married Mary Ames, 6 Nov. 1823 in Vermont. Seven children, all born in Wolcott, Vermont.
According to his son's bio in "Landmarks of Niagra County, NY", Moses served in the War of 1812 and "was one of twelve men detailed to blow up old Fort Erie"

The information about Moses Jones Stanley on the Sons of the American Revolution application was approximate, at best. It said he was born 10 Feb 1799 and died 13 Feb 1874. But Vermont vital records give his birth date as 16 Feb 1799. And his headstone gives his date of death as 13 Mar 1873 and his age at death as 74 years, 25 days (which agrees with the Vermont vital records birth date.) Also, his marriage to Mary Polly Ames was on 1 Jul 1823.
