Dale Loudon
March 17, 1997 - October 2, 2023
Dale Loudon, Sioux Falls SD, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023, at his home, due to diabetic complications. He was 26 years old.
Dale was born on March 17, 1997 to Dwight “Chip” and Holly Loudon in Sioux Falls, SD. He passed away suddenly due to type 1 diabetic complications.
Dale attended John Harris Elementary School, then Patrick Henry Middle School, Lincoln High School, graduating in 2016. He then attended the University of South Dakota graduating with a BS in Psychology and Medical Biology in 2020 during the Covid epidemic.
Dale started in the scouting program in Cub Scouts in first grade. He moved into the Boy Scouts at age 12. He enjoyed camping, hiking, and working on his rank advancement. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 2013. His Eagle Scout project was constructing storage closets for the church choir at United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls. He participated in a high adventure trip with his brother Drew and his dad to the Boundary Waters Wilderness Canoe Area in July 2012.
Dale kept very busy during high school with marching band playing the baritone horn. He also took up cross country running on the Lincoln High School cross country team. Dale was lucky enough to be on the cross-country team that won the state championship. During the spring, he participated in Lincoln High School track. During his senior year he completed EMT training.
While attending the University of South Dakota, he joined the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. During a portion of that time, he was the Philanthropic Chairman, organizing several projects. These included fraternity brothers walking dogs for a local dog shelter, an easter egg hunt for local school children and a backpack program, also for local school children. He had part time jobs as an EMT and at the Polaris warehouse in Vermillion.
After graduation, Dale moved back to Sioux Falls and rented an apartment with his twin brother, Drew. They lived there for 2 years.
Needing employment, he started working at Stan Houston as a sales representative. He picked up the job quickly and discovered he was talented in sales. After 2 years at Stan Houston, he started searching for a job more relevant to his degree but that effort was cut short by his death.
While working at Stan Houston, Dale was able to attain numerous woodworking tools. He really enjoyed building projects with his father, including an entertainment center and an artful epoxy coated end table.
Grateful for having shared his life are his parents Dwight and Holly Loudon, his brothers Douglas and wife Juliana with their son Dorne, Elm Creek, NE; Daniel and wife Abby, twin brother Drew. Also, Grandparents Nancy and D.W. Loudon, Uncle David Loudon and Aunt Julie and Uncle Dave Rames and their children; Jessica and Ridley Weeks, Tontitown, AR and Jon Rames. Dale was preceded in death by his Grandmother Joan Van Doren.
Private services were held October 7,2023.
