Jeff Allen Lilyquist
May 28, 1959 - August 25, 2023
Jeff Allen Lilyquist, age 64, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Miller Funeral Home – Westside Chapel (6200 W 41st St., Sioux Falls, SD).
Jeff was born on May 28, 1959 to Donald and Carol (Leitheiser) Lilyquist in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He grew up in Sioux Falls attending Lowell Elementary, Patrick Henry Junior High and Lincoln Senior High. As a boy, Jeff ran a paper route and later worked at Cherry Rock Farms, where he saved up enough money to buy his first motorcycle. A hard worker, Jeff worked a variety of jobs throughout his life, lastly being as a Parts Manager for the City of Sioux Falls Water Purification Plant.
Jeff experienced life to the fullest in every way he could. He had a special bond with his father riding motorcycles starting when he was as young as 12, and that love would be shared later in life with a tight knit group of friends that would travel together on trips to state parks, poker runs, and various other excursions. The scenic Black Hills were made better riding a Harley Davidson. He would also take trips piling into the van with the love of his life, Michelle, and their two daughters, Sheré and Jenna. Jeff loved his family and was incredibly involved in his daughters’ lives, taking them on motorcycle rides and coaching their teams. He was loyal and committed to the people he cared about. Jeff was a fan of good times and good music, specifically Classic Rock. He enjoyed relaxing on the porch in the evenings with his English Bulldogs, and was Mr. Fix-it around the house. He also enjoyed learning about history and saving that knowledge to share with others, and collecting knives and guns that he found to be unique or interesting.
Grateful to have shared Jeff’s life with him are his best friend and the love of his life, Michelle Lilyquist; his daughters, Sheré Lilyquist and Jenna Lilyquist; his granddaughter, Alyson Lilyquist; his sisters, Lisa Jacobson and Lori (Scott) Varns; his bonus sisters, Karen (Dennis) Ernst and Patti Ziegler; his nieces and nephews, Robert (Carley) Jacobson, Kayla (Conrad) Varns, Michael (Rachel) Varns, Nathan (MaKayla) Varns, Joshua (Heather) Ernst, Rachel (Jeremy) Nies, Zachary (Lindsay) Ernst, Sara (Nick) Ziegler and Jill Ziegler; his close friends, Robert “Bob” Bankes, Craig Urban, Robert Sykes, Ron Urban and Stuart Moser; his English Bulldog, Opie; and numerous family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Carol Lilyquist; his good friend, Randy Batt; and his English Bulldog, Dexter.
