Jami Nichole Beck, daughter of Kim and Janine (DeMers) Beck was born August 11, 1981, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. From a very early age, Jami walked to the beat of her own drum. She knew what she wanted in life and never missed an opportunity to live her life to the fullest. She had a lifelong love of music that would carry her across the country and the world. Her thirst for travel took her to places such as China, Ireland, Scotland, South Korea, Germany and Brazil.
Jami graduated from Washington High School in 1999 and had participated in gymnastics and band. Her accomplishments in music included being in All State band and orchestra her entire high school career and First Chair (clarinet). She then earned her undergrad degree from Augustana in Communication Disorders and Music Performance in 2003. She finished her Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology from the University of Kansas where she became an avid Jayhawks Basketball Fan… Rock, Chalk, Jayhawk!!! Jami dedicated many years to Children’s Care in Rapid City and as a traveling Speech Pathologist in California. She was currently employed with the Custer School District in Hermosa, SD and did online learning with Pioneer Healthcare at Ventura Charter School in California. She also worked on an as needed basis in several long term care facilities in the Rapid City area.
She blessed many groups with her talents including but not limited to the Sioux Falls Municipal Band, Black Hills Symphony, Rapid City Summer Band, and the Temecula Valley Symphony in Temecula, California. She also played in the pit orchestra for numerous musicals. She currently taught ice skating lessons in Rapid City. She loved riding her two horses and enjoyed taking part in dressage and jumping clinics and, of course, cheering on the Jayhawks basketball team!
Left to cherish her memory are her parents, Kim and Janine Beck of Sioux Falls; horses Tigger and Franny; and a host of additional family and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Orville and Kaye Beck and Lawrence and Louise DeMers; and cousins, Justin DeMers and Kari DeMers.
