Visitation with family present to greet friends will be 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 31, 2023, also at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the family for a future memorial to the Great Plains Zoo in Sioux Falls.

Kylie Jo Bowden, daughter of Loren and Heather (Green) Bowden was born May 25, 2001, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She grew up in Hartford and graduated from West Central in 2019. Kylie enjoyed playing softball with some of her close school friends each summer.

Kylie’s passion for animals was truly unmatched. She had two companions along the way that she cared deeply about, her cat, Hoover, and her dog, Juno. The compassion she had for animals landed her a job at the Great Plains Zoo, where she was recently promoted to a supervisory position. Many summer days were spent at her grandparent’s lake cabin at Lake Madison, tubing, swimming and sitting out on the deck with her friends just enjoying the sunshine. Kylie loved living life to the fullest and on the edge. She loved visiting the ocean, and loved amusement parks. One of her favorite memories was convincing her mom Heather, her brother Eric, and his best friend Hunter Hagerty to go skydiving. The joy she had as her brother panicked the whole way through. Eric and Kylie didn't always get along the best, but over the years something brought them closer than ever. Both shared a common interest in wrecking cars for dad to fix, something they bonded over. Eric and Kylie loved keeping Dad busy.

Tormenting mom and dad is something they were very good at together as a team. A pure soul who cared more about others than herself. All she ever wanted to do was explore the world, and be somewhere warm. She loved nothing more than traveling with best friends Kazia Ohayon, Shalee Gonzales, Makenna Maras, Hannah Miller, and Mersedez Jensen. She will continue her adventures, and her love for animals as she reunites with former dog, Jake. She will be forever warm, and forever on an adventure.

Left to cherish her memory are her parents, Loren (Tara Heinricy) Bowden of rural Sioux Falls and Heather (Tom VanAsselt) Bowden of rural Colton, SD; brother, Eric Bowden of rural Sioux Falls; sister, Chelsea (Jessen) Neuberger of Sioux Falls; grandparents, Richard and Donna Bowden of Hartford; nieces, Luna and Kainé; boyfriend, Jacob Johnson and his family who have adopted Kylie as their own; and a host of additional loving family and friends, including her best friend, Kazia Ohayon. She was preceded in death by her grandma, Judy Stough.
