ARMY VETERAN
James LeRoy Schultz
April 3, 1948 - July 4, 2013
James (Jim) L. Schultz passed away on the morning of Thursday, July 4, 2013, at his Sioux Falls residence, after a long battle with health problems.
Jim was born to Melvin and Lucille (Peterson) Schultz on April 3, 1948 in Sioux Falls SD. Jim received his education in the local area and graduated from Washington High School in 1966. Following high school, Jim proudly enlisted in the United States Army and served in Korea during the Vietnam Era for three years, 1967-1969. Following his Honorable Discharge, Jim moved back to Sioux Falls. Jim spent a lot of his early years riding Quarter Horses, where he once traded a Model T replica for his first horse. He also loved classic antique cars and attended many car shows. In more recent years he was a strong advocate of the local Vet Center and visited it frequently.
Jim is preceded by: his father, Melvin. He is survived by: his son, Tim (Marta) Schultz of Okinawa, Japan; mother, Lucille Schultz of Sioux Falls, SD; brother, Jerry (Devon) Schultz of McDonough, GA; sister, Cheryl (Greg) Anderson of Sioux Falls; and his special beloved grandchildren, Ethan and Kylie Schultz of Okinawa, Japan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to the Sioux Falls Veteran Center or the Salvation Army, in which Jim was a dedicated advocate. Graveside service will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 2pm Saturday July 13, 2013.
