John L. Olson
July 28, 1967 - May 1, 2022
John Olson, 54, of Sioux Falls passed away unexpectedly on May 1, 2022. John was born in Sioux Falls, SD to Wayne and Monica Olson. John spent most of his life living in Sioux Falls where he graduated from Lincoln High School and the University of South Dakota. He had a long career working in the banking industry in South Carolina, Kansas and South Dakota.
During his college years, John joined the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity where he had many great friends/brothers surrounding him. John was a loving father to his two sons, Caden and Brice, and spent many happy times following their activities. While living in Kansas, John became an avid Chiefs fan and was a proud 30-year season ticket holder. GO CHIEFS!
John was loved by all who crossed his path and was known for his big smile and gentle, caring manner. He loved skiing, camping, fly fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He was a welcome addition to any social gathering.
John was the bright star of the family and always helped anyone in need. He set the example of how to be a true gentleman.
John is survived by his sons, Caden and Brice, his brother Brant Olson and partner Chi Chau of Sparks, NV, niece Lydia Olson of Sparks, NV, His aunt Yvonne and husband Tony Salem of Des Moines, IA, Aunt Kaye and husband Bob Whitmore of Sioux Falls, aunt Mary Lou Jackson and partner Don Taylor of Sioux Falls, SD and many cousins and their families.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Monica Olson of Sioux Falls, SD.
A visitation and memorial service will be held Friday, May 6, 2022 from 5-7 pm at Heritage Funeral Home.
