Sioux Falls, SD ~ James “Jimmy” William Schneider, age 53, died on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Lake Madison, SD. A memorial service celebrating Jimmy’s life will be 9:30 AM, Friday, May 27, 2022 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls, SD. His family will be present to greet friends on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the funeral home from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation is preferred.

Jimmy was born on November 19, 1968 in Sioux Falls, SD to James “Jim” and Mary “Mickey” (Doyle) Schneider. He was raised in Sioux Falls at 33rd and 3rd Avenue and received his education at St. Mary’s Grade School and O’Gorman High School, graduating in 1987. Jimmy continued his education at the University of Sioux Falls where he earned his degree in Psychology, Jimmy then earned a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at Northeastern University in Boston.

Jimmy was united in marriage with Sherri Halverson and from this union was blessed with three sons, Liam, Nolan and Vaughn.

On April 24, 2021, Jimmy was united in marriage with Iryna Vercellino Shiyan and welcomed her daughter, Mila into his family.

Upon the completion of Jimmy’s education in Boston he returned to Sioux Falls and worked as a counselor at Avera McKennan Hospital before switching career paths to the insurance industry in Sioux Falls. Jimmy worked at AFLAC, Great Plains Brokerage, Howalt McDowell Agency and in 2018 began working at Holmes Murphy, where Jimmy was currently working. He was passionate and took great pride in his work, and always made time for his client’s needs.

Jimmy served on the Board of Directors for Getty Abstract and Title Company and volunteered for various races and events in the Sioux Falls community.

Jimmy had a commanding presence when entering a room, a larger-than-life personality with a keen sense of humor. Jimmy enjoyed sports and enjoyed listening to the Tony Kornheiser podcast and actively watching his show, he cheered on the Tottenham Hotspur Football Club (Soccer), The Arizona Diamondbacks, and would check the box-scores every morning. He also enjoyed spending time in nature, playing golf, watching and feeding birds, and photography. He was a gifted musician playing the guitar and the piano, loved almost all genres of music. He attended countless rock concerts with his sons and passed down his passion for music to them. Jimmy also was an accomplished cook, working his way through one of Gordon Ramsay’s cookbooks. Above all, Jimmy loved spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, step-father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend who will be deeply missed.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Iryna Schneider, Sioux Falls, SD; three sons, Liam Schneider of Vermillion, SD, Nolan Schneider, Hollywood, CA and Vaughn Schneider, Sioux Falls, SD; one step-daughter, Mila Vercellino of Sioux Falls, SD; four sisters, Laurie (Greg) McNamara, Jean (Dan) Murphy, Sandy (Gordon) Wirth and Maureen (Jeff) Deutscher, all of Sioux Falls, SD; Doris Schneider of Naples, FL; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his mother, Mary “Mickey” Schneider; his father, James “Jim” T. Schneider; and nephew, Nick Deutscher.
