Gianna Appaline Wehrkamp, age 2 ½, daughter of Angie and Jared Wehrkamp, passed peacefully in her family's arms and earned her angel wings Saturday, January 10th after a short battle with influenza A at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. Gianna Appaline was born to Angie and Jared Wehrkamp on June 4th, 2012 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Her nickname was "Angel Baby." She was a vibrant, active, beautiful, blue eyed girl with a larger than life personality who put a smile on the face of every person that stepped in her path. She loved spending time with her big brother Ethan, who she nicknamed "Bo Bo." She loved attending and watching Ethan's baseball and basketball games to cheer him on and entertain the crowd. She was on the go constantly and loved to be around people. She touched many lives and gave us a lifetime of memories during her short time here on earth. Gianna will be deeply missed and remembered eternally. Gianna is survived by her parents, Angie and Jared, and one sibling, Ethan Jirsa. Her paternal grandparents Donna and Layton Wehrkamp of Hartford; Aunt and Uncle Kelli and Joel Wehrkamp, and son Callen, 5 months of Hartford; maternal grandparents Brian and Cindy Kelly of Mitchell; Aunt and Uncle Alice and Matt Morgan, and their children Crewe 5, and Kinzley 3, of Windsor, Colorado. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 15th from 6:00-8:00pm at Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls. The prayer service will be Friday, January 16th at 11:00am also at Heritage Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations will be directed to a gofundme account http://www.gofundme.com/jztjqw to help with expenses, and will go toward charities and projects close to the families' heart.
