October 19, 1978 - May 15, 2020
David J. Knorr, 41, of Salem passed away suddenly at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls on Friday, May 15, 2020. Funeral services will begin at 2 pm on Friday, May 22, 2020 at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem. Visitation will be from 5-7 on Thursday, May 21, 2020 with a 7 pm prayer service also at the funeral home.
David Knorr was born October 19, 1978 in Sioux Falls, SD to Allan and Julia (Langdeaux) Knorr. He grew up in Beresford, SD and graduated from Beresford High School. On March 23, 2010 he married Christina Burns.
David's life would seem short to many, but those who were touched by him knew and understood that the quality of life far exceeds the quantity of time in which one exists. His gentle smile that could light up a room, his soothing voice that could ease the most broken of hearts, and his loving brown eyes that reminded you everything is going to be OK will be missed, but also remembered in the fondest of ways. David was born October 19th, 1978 in Sioux Falls SD. He later attended Beresford high school where he had a passion for track and debate. David worked at DirecTV until 2019, when he decided to stay home with his family and spend quality time with them. He most recently began assisting his brother-in-law Troy with odd jobs around the tristate area. In 2019, David was ordained as an officiant so he could perform the marriage of his sister and brother-in-law. David had a plethora of interests as he was so curious about everything. His most recognized interests were.... Anything space related, NASA, and Sci-fi. David could be called a "McGyver", as he loved tinkering with things and fixing them. David enjoyed many family trips and got to see NASA last year, swim in the ocean and ride a plane for the first time. He loved the outdoors, fishing and camping anytime he could. The most important thing to David was his family. Christina, his wife of ten years, and his four children Teair, Gavon, Brody and Jacob were his heart and soul. The most recent addition to the family was Mariannah, his granddaughter, whom he adored. He was very close to all of his nieces and nephews as well as his brother and sisters. David had so many good attributes that its hard to summarize into a short paragraph. He was always so positive, a glass half full type of person, always turning any negative into a positive. If you met him, you instantly fell in love with him. He was the guy who was easygoing, never let the troubles of the world bother him, and could make everyone smile. David truly taught everyone that met him to love.
He is survived by: his wife, Christina of Salem; his children, Teair Knorr, Gavon St. John, Brody Knorr and Jacob Knorr all of Salem; his granddaughter, Mariannah Thompson; his father, Allan of Beresford; his mother, Julia of Hurley, NM; his siblings, Tammy (Tom) Komandowski of Farmington, MN, Rita (Troy) Malcom of Dell Rapids and Steve Knorr of Sioux Falls; his mother-in-law, Rose Marie Burns of Yankton; and Christina’s siblings, Garrett Burns of Salem, Adam Dicks and Cami Dicks of Yankton, Demi (Dustin) Neiman of Ramona, CA, Mariah Burns of Yankton and Zach Keller of Sioux City, IA.
He was preceded in death by his grandma, Myrtle Kennedy, his uncle, Vic Kennedy and his nephew, Keegan Hartwick. www.kinzleyfh.com
