John Van Dyke
John Van Dyke, 67, of 924 S. Kiwanis, died Thursday, Nov 24, 1994, at St. Lukes Hospital in Aberdeen.
Mr. Van Dyke was born March 20, 1927, in Sanborn, Iowa. At age seven, he moved with his family to Sioux Falls, where he grew up and graduated from Washington High School. He then entered the Navy, where he served in the South Pacific. After his discharge, he returned to Sioux Falls where he later worked for Weatherwax’s Mens Store.
He married Joan Raap on March 20, 1966, in Sioux Falls. He retired due to ill health in the early 1970’s.
He was a member of First Christian Church; Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 628; and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 1.
He is survived by his wife, Joan of Sioux Falls; and three sisters; Dorothy Ruyter and Elizabeth Anderson, both of Sioux Falls; and Audrey Millage of Kersey, Colo.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home, with the family preset from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the home.
