Obiturary of Miss Monger

Jasper Journal: Mrs. Elmera Monger, popular and highly respected young woman of Highland Township, was laid to rest in the Highland Lutheran Church Cemetery Monday of last week, following services conducted at the church final rites were conducted from her late home at 1:30 o'clock and from the church at 2:00 o'clock, with Rev. Edw. Hegland officiating.

Special songs were sung by the Sunday school, the church choir, and the girls quartet, and a solo was offered by Mrs. Hegland. The funeral was largely attended by friends and relatives, who assembled to pay final tribute to her and the noble life she had led.

Elmera Monger was born in Highland Township, Minnehaha County, on August 2, 1901, and died at 9:00 o'clock, Wednesday morning, October 12, at the age of 31 years.

In 1902 she went with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrias J. Monger, to Lyman County, South Dakota.

The family remained there until 1911 when they moved to Thief River Falls, Minnesota, remaining there for three years. Their next home was in Grant County, Minnesota, where they stayed until 1920. They took up their residence in Carr County, where Elmera's father died. In 1923 the mother, with the children, came back to Minnehaha County. The mother died on October 10, 1924.

Elmera was a graduate of the Augustana Norman School in the class of 1920, and has since been teaching in the public schools at various places. She also taught parochial school in her church. She was one of the active workers in the Sunday school, Young People's League and the church, and will be greatly missed in all the affairs of these organizations.

She is survived by two brothers, Archie of Highland community and John of Dell Rapids; two sisters Mable (Mrs. Andrew Hove) of Vita, Montana and Myrtle (Mrs. Martin Lake) of Vernon, Kansas; two uncles, John and Ebert Monger; four aunts, Mrs. E. Holt, Mrs. John Benson, Mrs. Andrew Fjellanger and Mrs. Halvor Strover; Mrs. Johana Fjellanger and Mrs. P.O. Peterson, cousins and other relatives.
