Russell J. Jorgensen, 73
Russell J. Jorgensen, 73, of Trent, died Sunday, October 4, 1992, at Mom and Dad’s Nursing Home, Sioux Falls.
Russell Jorgenson was born October 26, 1918, at Colman, the son of Jorgan Jorgensen and Kirstine Jorgensen. He grew up and attended school in the Trent area. As a young man he worked on a farm as a farm hand. He served in the Army during WWII from 1942 to 1945. He was married to Doris Morris on April 28, 1947, at Luverne, Minnesota. He worked for Weelborg Construction as a mechanic and then for the Chevrolet garage in Dell Rapids until his retirement.
He was married to Genevieve Nordland on August 4, 1966, at Pipestone, Minnesota. They lived in Dell Rapids until 1978 when they moved to Trent.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Survivors include his wife, Genevieve of Trent; two sons, Tony of Sioux Falls and Mark of Dell Rapids; one daughter, Mrs. Marvin (Barbara) Sharp of the Dell Rapids; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren; one stepson, Warren Nordland of Bakersfield, California; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Sharon Krier of Brookings, Mrs. Connie Rischar of Bakersfield, California, and Mrs. Barbara Dye of Marrion, Iowa; nine step grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth and Erroll of Dell Rapids, and for sisters, Mrs. Bert (Rose) Scofield of Sioux Falls, Edna Hoyme of Sioux Falls, Mrs. Theron (Lillian) Graves of Trent, and Darlene Halvorson of Trent.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 7, 1992, at 2 p.m. at the Kahler Funeral Home with Pastor David Knutson officiating. Interment will be later in the Trent Cemetery.
