Arlene Laughlin Laid To Rest
Private funeral services were held at the French Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon for Arlene Laughlin daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P.A. Laughlin. Rev. Walter Van, officiated at the services. Interment was made in the Colman Cemetery.
Arlene Alice Laughlin was born at Colman on October 16, 1926 and passed from this life at the Madison hospital, following a short illness, on December 7, 1942 at the age of 16 years, 1 month and 21 days.
Arlene was a sophomore in the local high school and also a member of the school band and glee club. She was a member of the local Methodist Church and was one of the pianists for the Sunday school. She has made many friends during her years in school; both among the students and the faculty, always taking a very great interest in her school work and was always sincere in any undertaking.
Her popularity among her school mates and faculty was shown by the entire high school assembling across the street from the funeral home during the services, to pay tribute to their departed friend.
She leaves to mourn her untimely departure: her father and mother; her grandmother, Mrs. Alzina Laughlin; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Those from away her to attend the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Walter Laughlin and Mr. and Mrs. Dolwin Laughlin of Flandreau and Mrs. Chas. Campbell of Sheldon, Iowa.
